Get To Know Raj Kathuria
Raj Kathuria is an ideal example of the American Dream and the American spirit.
Raj was born and raised in a lower-middle class family from a small town in India, and is the oldest of the three siblings. Through his dedication and commitment, Raj earned a bachelor’s degree and migrated to his dream country, the United States of America, in 1986, and has been living in Howard County ever since. Raj’s brother graduated from Mt Hebron High school and his sister graduated from Oakland Mills High School.
Raj started his career with Roy Rogers in the Chatham Mall (now Einstein Bagel) at $2.35 / hr, and, over the years, with his dedication and hard work, has been the Project Manager, Business Development Manager with GE Capital, Micro Age Technologies and other IT Technology Consulting companies. After Y2K with the technology slowdown, Raj changed directions to owning and running small businesses in the consumer retail & hospitality industry. He was the owner of Bistro Blanc, a fine wine bar and restaurant, in Glenelg. As a small business owner, Raj has had the unique experience and privilege of generating hundreds of jobs in the local area.
Raj continues to help, guide and mentor other local businesses and entrepreneurs as a local Realtor focused on small businesses.
Raj recently celebrated his 25th anniversary with his lovely wife, Sangita, and lives with his three kids in Ellicott City. His eldest daughter Shagun is a Junior at Stevenson University, specializing in Digital Marketing. His second daughter, Ishika, is a High School Junior, and his son, Ishaan, goes to Hollifield Elementary.
Raj is a very active member of the local community. He has worked for multiple years with the Gilchrist Society, American Heart Society and the Autism Society helping them with their annual fundraiser. He has also been on the Board for Howard Community College Grand Prix fundraisers.
Raj is leading member of the Howard County Indian Community round table & a member of the Guru Nanak Foundation of America.
Raj believes in maintaining diversity in Howard County and setting a path for all those who want to work hard and follow the rules to achieve the American dream. He believes in ensuring smart & sustainable development in Howard County.
